Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup apple butter – homemade or store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder- minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder-finely diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan and sauté minced garlic powder and finely diced onion powder until fragrant.
  • Add apple butter, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and smoked paprika. Stir to combine.
  • Cover and let ingredients "sweat" for 5 mins, then simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes over low heat.
  • Adjust sweetness or tanginess with brown sugar or lemon juice to taste.
  • Season with salt and pepper, considering the savory depth from Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cool slightly, blend for a smoother texture, and reheat.
  • Brush onto grilled meats or use as a dip for a uniquely rich flavor experience.
