- 12 oz fresh cranberries
- 1 –2 jalapeños finely chopped (remove seeds for less heat)
- ½ cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
- ½ cup water
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- Pinch of salt
- Fresh cilantro or parsely chopped for garnish
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, water, and orange juice. Stir occasionally until the cranberries begin to pop, about 10 minutes.
Stir in the chopped jalapeños, orange zest, red pepper flakes, cinnamon, cumin, and a pinch of salt. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
For a smoother consistency, use an immersion blender directly in the saucepan or transfer the mixture to a blender. Blend until you reach your desired texture.
Transfer the sauce to a serving bowl and let it cool slightly. Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro before serving.
