- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 6 cloves garlic minced
- 2 small shallots finely chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup chicken broth or stock
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour optional for a thicker sauce
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley chopped, for garnish (optional)
In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and bubbling.
Add 6 cloves of minced garlic and 2 finely chopped small shallots to the pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until they are softened and fragrant but not browned.
Pour in 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of milk, stirring gently to combine. Let the mixture heat for a minute.
Slowly add 1 cup of chicken broth or stock. If a thicker sauce is desired whisk in 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
Add 1 teaspoon of fresh thyme leaves, salt, and ground black pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches your desired consistency.
Once the sauce has thickened and reached your desired consistency, remove it from the heat. Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh finish. Serve immediately or keep warm until ready to use.
Garlic is known for its potential health benefits, including boosting the immune system and reducing inflammation. Incorporating it into your sauce not only adds flavor but also some nutritional perks.
