Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for extra heat
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, and ketchup. Whisk them together until well combined.
  • Add the brown sugar and lemon juice to the mixture. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and everything is evenly incorporated.
  • Incorporate the Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce into the mixture. These ingredients will add depth and complexity to the sauce.
  • Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper if using. Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper according to your desired level of heat.
  • Taste the sauce and season with salt to your preference. Remember, you can always add more salt later if needed.
  • Transfer the sauce to a saucepan and place it over medium heat. Allow it to simmer gently for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will help all the flavors meld together beautifully.
  • Once the sauce has thickened slightly and the flavors have melded, remove it from the heat and let it cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a glass jar or airtight container for storage.

Special note
Name brand ingredients are not necessary. In fact, my opinion is that the store brand, thinner ketchup and mustard worked best to make this recipe.
