Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Blender or immersion blender (optional for smoother consistency)

Ingredients

  • 4 habanero peppers minced (wear gloves)
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Water as needed
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat vegetable oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add minced habanero peppers, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, onion powder, dry mustard, and a pinch of salt to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium-low heat. Allow it to simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  • If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of water. If it's too thin, continue simmering until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning according to your preference. Add more salt or spice if desired.
  • Once done, remove the saucepan from heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a sterilized jar or airtight container for storage.

Notes

Special Note
