Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar light or dark
  • 2 tablespoons molasses for depth and richness
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for heat
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, vegetable or olive oil. Stir in garlic powder and onion powder, letting the aroma bloom for 30 seconds.
  • Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  • Mix in molasses, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and liquid smoke. Let it simmer gently.
  • Season with black pepper, salt, and a pinch of cayenne pepper if you like heat.
  • Let the sauce simmer uncovered for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened to your liking.
  • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped cilantro for a bright finish. Let cool or use warm.
