Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar/honey personal choice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce such as Sriracha or Tabasco
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste for desired level of heat
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground chipotle pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, cumin, and ground chipotle pepper.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens to your desired consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt as needed.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the spicy BBQ sauce cool to room temperature. Transfer it to a jar or bottle for convenient storage.
