Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup tomato sauce no sugar added
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce sugar-free if available
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika optional but highly recommended
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons of your favorite sugar-free sweetener e.g., erythritol, stevia, or monk fruit
  • Salt to taste
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon liquid smoke for an extra smoky flavor

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, mix together the tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and your chosen sugar-free sweetener.
  • Place the saucepan on medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and allow it to simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  • For an extra smoky taste, stir in the optional liquid smoke. Adjust the salt and additional seasonings according to your taste.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.
