Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound 450g smoked kielbasa or Polish sausage, sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
  • 1 medium onion halved and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce homemade or store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Hot cooked rice optional

Instructions
 

  • Slice the smoked kielbasa and thinly slice the onion.
  • In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced kielbasa and onion. Sauté until onions are soft and kielbasa is lightly browned.
  • In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Pour the sauce over the kielbasa and onions in the skillet.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and coats the kielbasa.
  • Serve hot over hot cooked rice if desired.

Notes

If it is too sweet for you, then you can use some vinegar and some red pepper flakes.
