Instructions
In a blender, combine the crushed pineapple (including the juice) with the minced garlic and ginger. Blend until smooth. This process ensures that all the flavors meld perfectly.
Pour the blended pineapple mixture into a medium saucepan. Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar and brown sugar or honey.
Stir in 2 tablespoons of either soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce, depending on your preference. Add smoked paprika, black pepper, and a pinch of salt into the saucepan. If you enjoy a spicy kick, sprinkle in cayenne pepper or adjust to your taste.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring frequently to prevent burning. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 20 minutes or until it thickens to your desired consistency.
Taste your Hawaiian Pineapple BBQ Sauce and adjust the seasonings if needed. More sugar can mellow sharpness, while an extra splash of vinegar can brighten the flavors.

You can use canned pineapple but for best flavor you can always use fresh pineapples.
