Roasted Garlic BBQ Sauce combines the sweet, rich flavor of roasted garlic with tangy and smoky barbecue elements. Easy to customize for heat and sweetness, it’s a versatile addition to any cookout, adding depth and flavor to your dishes.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Cut the tops off the garlic heads to expose the cloves. Drizzle each with 1 tablespoon of garlic oil, then wrap them in aluminum foil. Roast in the oven for 30-35 minutes until the cloves are soft and golden.
In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, molasses, honey, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and Dijon mustard. Stir well to mix all the ingredients.
Squeeze the roasted garlic cloves into the saucepan. Add the smoked paprika, chili powder, ground black pepper, cayenne pepper (if using), and salt. Whisk everything together until well combined.
Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
For a smoother texture, use a blender to puree the sauce until smooth. Cool slightly before blending to avoid steam buildup.
Notes
You can allow the sauce to sit for at least 24 hours to let the flavors meld together for an even richer taste.
